The UPM has more than 200 Research Units and several Research Institutes. Among these is the Centre for Biomedical Technology (CTB).
The CTB is a research and technology centre that brings together researchers from different disciplines in biomedical technologies, in collaboration with other external institutions, in order to address major challenges that scientists are facing today in Biomedicine and Health and to facilitate the development of biomedical technology to be handed over to industry.
Some of the main research lines that CTB´s researchers work on include: Biomedical informatics, integration of genomic and clinical databases, medical artificial intelligence, mathematical and computational tools to extract biological and clinical relevant information from large data sets.
With more than 20 years of experience in the field of data analysis, UPM´s MIDAS research group coordinated by Prof. Ernestina Menasalvas, contributes to the CLARIFY project with their expertise in different domains ranging from the biomedical field to web social analysis and the development of data mining projects with special emphasis on natural language processing and image processing
